Brian Adler is the Director of Community Teen Services at the
Katz Jewish Community Center. He earned a bachelor's degree at Rutgers
Camden in political science and secondary education. He recently
completed his Master of Social Work degree at the University of
Pennsylvania. This is his fourth Panim el Panim cohort.
Shawn Baratz,
a Cherry Hill native and a Cherry Hill High School East alum, is
back in the "hood" after three and a half years at Yeshivas
Ohr Somayach in Jerusalem. He has a BA in Sociology with minors
in Economics and Theatre from Ohio State University. Shawn looks
forward to sharing and learning with Midrashahniks. This is his
first semester at Midrashah.
Dr. Leonard Berman
After ten years of teaching in New York City secondary schools,
Dr. Berman became New Jersey State Consultant in the Arts and Humanities.
Since retiring, Dr. Berman has devoted his energies to secondary
and adult education in the Jewish community. Most recently, Dr.
Berman has become a published novelist. Expectations for learning
and courtesy are key features of his classroom.
Debra M. Faye
holds bachelor's degrees in English, Speech and Theater and a master's
degree in Theater from the University of Connecticut-Storrs. She
has twelve years experience in teaching theater and English on the
high school and college level. Her twenty years experience as an
actor, director, and designer in both educational and professional
theater includes work at UConn, Wesleyan University, Cornell University,
The Pioneer Playhouse, Theater Workshop of Nantucket, the Williamstown
Theater Festival, and Puttin' on the Ritz.
Barry Kirzner
A native Longislander, Barry earned a Bachelor of Economics degree
from the Wharton School. After a successful thirteen-year career
as Director of Faculty Research in the Wharton School Computing
Department, Barry earned a master's degree and teaching certification
in Social Studies. He teaches Jewish history and Western Civilization
at the Stern Hebrew High School in Philadelphia.
Diana Lambert
She holds an MFA in fiction writing from the Program for writers
in Warren Wilson College. Her short stories have appeared in several
literary magazines and she has taught writing at Washtenaw Community
College in Michigan. Diana and her family just moved to our community,
and this is the first semester teaching at Midrashah.
Rabbi Joel Levenson
is the Associate Rabbi at TBS. A graduate of the rabbinical school
of the Jewish Theological Seminary, Rabbi Levenson also earned an
M.A. in Jewish Education. He is the author of Parshat Hashavua:
A Teacher's Guide.
Manny Pak A retired
mechanical engineer, Manny is the son of Yiddish-speaking immigrants.
In fact, Manny didn't really speak English until he reached kindergarten.
Because Yiddish holds such a special place in Manny's heart, he
is eager to share its riches with the next generation. Together
with his wife, Phyllis, Manny is raising his grandson and teaching
him Yiddish, too.
Dr. David Rabeeya
is a professor of Hebrew and Judaic studies at Bryn Mawr College.
He is the author of several books on Islam, Judaism, and Jews in
Arab lands. He is also a well-known lecturer about the Middle East
and Israel, and has recently received rabbinic ordination.
Rana Ronen was
born in Israel. She is fluent in reading and writing Hebrew. Rana
holds a BA in Psychology and Management and a MA in Human Resources
Management. She has worked for 12 years in the fields of customer
service and support at an Israeli mobile carrier. She is proficient
in preparing training plans, coaching and implementing them to different
audiences.
Sarah Rosenson
practiced law for 10 years in the Washington DC area. She is on
the Board of Directors of Congregation M'kor Shalom and is an active
member of the ritual, adult education, social action, and Seeking
Shalom committees. She is currently working towards a master's degree
in Jewish Studies through a distance learning program of the Spertus
Institute of Jewish Studies in Chicago.
Rabbi Ilene Schneider
holds an Ed.D.from Temple University. Ordained at the Reconstructionist
Rabbinical College, she was one of the first six women rabbis in
the U.S. She is the former director of tyhe Atlantic County Bureau
Of Jewish Education and the former director of the M.A.Ed. program
of Gratz college.
Gilah Lewis Sietz
earned her B.A. from Rutgers and a master's degree in Educational
Theater from NYU. She is an active participant in Jewish education
in our community and considers working with the students in Midrashah
"a constant joyride." Her love of learning and creativity
are a constant source of "reJewvenation" for all.
Rabbi Eric Traiger
teaches Torah at Kellman Academy.
