The Department of Jewish Education & Continuity promotes and encourages Jewish enlightenment, identity and commitment. An educational partner to schools, congregations, organizations and the community-at-large, the Department offers curriculum and program assistance and provides resources to teachers throughout the community. It endeavors to improve the quality and level of Jewish education through cultural events for the entire community, adult and parent educational courses and activities. The Department is funded in large measure by the Jewish Federation Annual Campaign.

Financial Assistance

Two Merit Scholarships are awarded each year in conjunction with a departmental essay contest. Teachers also receive scholarships to attend the CAJE Educators Conference and to further their Jewish education through the Excellence in Teaching Award.

Programs for Teachers

An arrangement between the DJE and ACAJE enables teachers in our community to use all the Agency's facilities, including the library and media center, and to participate in workshops.

Staff Study Programs

To further Jewish literacy among Jewish communal professionals, DJE staff organize study sessions for Federation staff meetings and for those who wish to study during lunch hours.
